No cuts at the expense of Hamburg’s schoolchildren!
Planned changes to all-day provision: parents call for the multiprofessional GTS model to be retained
Hamburg. At 87 Hamburg schools with pre-school classes through grade 4, the allocation for all-day provision is planned to change. Under the planned new formula, teacher allocations and dedicated honorarium funding in their current form would be removed; the allocation is planned to be provided entirely in the educator profession (Erzieherinnen/Erzieher).
According to the analysis used here, around 26,000 children are affected. The change is planned to apply from 1 August 2027 to pre-school classes (VSK) and grades 1 and 2, and from 1 August 2028 to grades 3 and 4.
The initiative “No cuts at the expense of Hamburg’s schoolchildren!” calls for the Hamburg Parliament and the relevant decision-makers to disclose transparently and assess educationally the consequences of the planned change for learning time, support, courses and the integrated organisation of the all-day school day.
